These glorious mexican huipils and blouses are from the extensive photostream of Teyacapan/Karen Elwell, a textile expert from Chicago.According to Karen, huipils are sleeveless women's garments that can be worn short, waist-length or to the ankle.Blouses have sleeves and are made from cut pieces of cloth and sewn together whereas huipils are usually made with woven, uncut pieces. These are so stunning I would consider framing to use as unique wall adornment........Lots more on display on her site.

A Cornucopia of .......Burlap
I've always thought of burlap as the silly putty of interior decor (and crafts, fashion etc). Unlimited versatility and a nubby, organic texture make this an ideal base for embellishment...or not. Love the skirts in the window and I can never get enough of those grain sack pillows.
